On Wednesday, 11 October 2023, at 14:00, the popular seniors' afternoon will once again take place at the Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger. Under the title "1001 Nights, Theatre and Flowers", the museum presents fascinating Meissen porcelain with figurines and decorations from the HGM collection. A Hamburg collector couple has put together the collection over decades and bequeathed it to the museum. The tour begins with a tour of the exhibition, which gives senior citizens an insight into the work of the famous Meissen manufactory from the period after 1950. It shows detailed scenes from 1001 Nights on beautifully designed service pieces such as pompous palaces, artistic belly dancers and skilful musicians. Flower lovers can look forward to beautiful orchid decorations and various floral creations. Objects such as the imposing figure of "The Dragon", based on the play of the same name by Yevgeny Schwarz, invite you to marvel and offer all kinds of things to talk about.

The tour is followed by a creative programme. Participants can be inspired by the objects on display and then paint a porcelain piece of their choice under the guidance of an experienced porcelain painter. Afterwards, they can chat with each other over coffee and cake and bring the afternoon to a cosy close. The next senior citizens' afternoon will take place on 13 December 2023.The senior citizens' afternoons deal with changing topics and last approx. 2 hours. The price is €10.00 plus museum admission per person and includes a guided tour, creative programme and coffee and cake. Register at besuchercenter@porzellanikon.org or call +49 9287 918000.
