On Friday, 1 July 2022 at 6:00 pm, the studio exhibition of ceramist Angelika Krauß will open at Porzellanikon Hohenberg. The opening is open to the public - all interested parties are welcome. In 2021, the porcelain artist from Velden (near Pegnitz) won the jury prize at the first porcelain market in Hohenberg and is now showing selected porcelain pieces from her diverse repertoire in a studio exhibition. The designer is showing filigree porcelain pieces such as vases, bowls and art objects as well as wafer-thin lighting objects made of unglazed porcelain. In addition, there are sometimes unusual wall installations. Angelika Krauß freely rotates her objects without form on the glass. As...read more …

The trained ceramist loves contrasts. She is particularly fond of optical and haptic contrasts - light and dark, glazed and unglazed, round and angular. She usually contrasts the hardness of fired porcelain with soft, curved forms. Huggy vases, bowls folded from squares, twisted cups with angular openings or wall objects and filigree lamps are among her works. Shiny, because glazed, inner surfaces are contrasted with rough unglazed outer surfaces with stripes, grooves, drops and "holes" (which also make them a special pleasure to touch). Angelika Krauß turns her objects freely, sometimes deforms them, builds them up freely or assembles them. The results are functional as well as...read more …

The porcelain designer Gudrun Gaube attended colleges in Halle, Dresden and Budapest, where she studied design and specialised in painting, graphics and decorative design. With these extensive skills in her luggage, she came to the "New Artistic Development" of the State Porcelain Manufactory Meissen. The graduate designer's décor designs in particular are characterised by her very own style. The theme of her designs is often nature - both domestic and exotic. Nature is very close to Gudrun Gaube's heart. She studies the subject in depth, grows fruit and vegetables in her home garden and keeps her own chickens. This knowledge is reflected in her detailed designs. Even after her...read more …

Dr. Arnd Kluge, municipal archivist of the city of Hof, reports on the history of Upper Franconian porcelain up to 1914: After a slow start, the porcelain industry expanded here from the end of the 18th century. One generation after Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther, who had started porcelain production in 1820, the "boom" also began in the eastern part of Upper Franconia. The boom continued uninterrupted until 1914 and laid the foundation for the Upper Franconian porcelain industry up to the present day. Price: Museum admissionread more …

Campfire

How about a good story around the campfire? The War of the Buttons by Louis Pergaud is a classic for young and old. The boys of two rival villages compete against each other. The buttons are cut off the clothes of the defeated as a sign of defeat. Inspired by this story, the artist Olaf Fieber created several figures, one of which we will look at together in the special exhibition. An event in cooperation with the Junge Luisenburg and the Luisenburg Festival. Price: Museum admission, children up to 18 years free with registration or Tel.: +49 9287 918000read more …
