The "Scherbenglück" porcelain shop, which was opened by the members of the Porzellanikon Selb und Hohenberg a.d. Eger e.V. association in March of this year (as reported in the media), is now well established and enjoys great popularity. The porcelain that is sold is donated to the association by private individuals and companies. Vases, services, decorative items, figurines or individual pieces from crockery series and much more are sold. You can also buy crockery at "Scherbenglück". The Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger offers plenty of variety over the festive period. The museum is open to visitors every day from 10:00 to 17:00 over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Both museums are closed on 24 and 31 December 2023.If you would like to experience porcelain production up close, you can take part in the public guided tours at Porzellanikon Selb entitled "Porcelain factory on public holidays" on 25 and 26 December 2023 and on 1 and 6 January 2024, both at 14:00. Christmas decorations made of porcelain make the festive season a special experience at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Hohenberg. With a varied entertainment and creative programme, the senior citizens' afternoon "Winter Magic" on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 at 14:00 will conjure up a festive atmosphere and create a sense of contemplation. New exhibitions, museum projects and events for the coming year were presented at the 2024 annual press conference at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain. The event took place in the presence of the local media on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 from 11:00 to 12:30 at the Selb site. The Christmas factory at the Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain in Selb will be buzzing with activity. On Sunday, 3 December 2023, all interested visitors and craft enthusiasts can design their own tree decorations for this year's Christmas tree from 13:00 to 16:00 under the title "Christmas tree decorations". Various porcelain pieces such as angels, snowmen, bells, stars and many other motifs can be selected and decorated with bright colours. Great fun for the whole family! On Wednesday, 15 November 2023, the much-loved "Kulturkaffee" will take place for the last time this year at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger. The planned show by Norbert Ortner with his cabaret programme "Fuxteufelswild" at Porzellanikon Selb on Saturday, 4 November 2023 unfortunately has to be postponed for organisational reasons. The new date has been set for Saturday, 24 February 2024. As announced by the "Förderverein Porzellanikon Selb und Hohenberg a.d. The annual general meeting of the "Förderverein Porzellanikon Selb und Hohenberg a.d. Eger e.V." took place at Porzellanikon Selb on Friday, 20 October 2023. All interested members were first offered a curator's tour of the special exhibition "Toilet & Co. Sanitary ceramics from the outhouse to the high-tech toilet". This time it was a dialogue tour, as Kathleen Klötzer, curator for economic, technical and social history, and Christoph Neeb, curator for technical ceramics, jointly guided visitors through the very successful special exhibition. Interested visitors can experience porcelain production up close from 14:00. The much-loved tree decorating campaign once again brought together various stakeholders from the Fichtelgebirge in 2023 and traditionally started at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Selb. The Czech Embassy in Berlin was chosen as the prominent delivery address for the approx. 3 metre high fir tree from the Fichtelgebirge, which is donated for the campaign by the Bavarian State Forestry. This year's campaign will thus also be part of the Bavarian-Czech Friendship Weeks 2023 of the towns of Asch and Selb. On Sunday, 22 October 2023 at 2:30 pm there will be another family afternoon at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Selb. The activity offers a great opportunity for parents, grandparents and children to spend an exciting and creative time together. On Sunday, 20 August 2023, Porzellanikon - State museum for porcelain, Selb is holding a creative afternoon for all families at 2:30 pm. Both children and adults can get creative together under the motto "Designing tiles". Porcelain tiles offer endless possibilities for embellishing buildings and rooms and can therefore often be seen in cityscapes, houses and flats. At the studio exhibition of the renowned Czech porcelain artist Jiří Kožíšek, which ended on 13 August 2023, Porzellanikon acquired a unique porcelain object with an unusual name. "Vzrušená" translates as "An awesome vase". Jiří Kožíšek was the winner of the jury prize awarded to him last year at the porcelain market in Hohenberg. The object acquired is a vase created in 2023, which appealed to the main curator for the art and cultural history of porcelain at Porzellanikon, Petra Werner. The occasion was the 3rd Porcelain Market, which has become a permanent fixture in the Porzellanikon calendar of events and always takes place one week before the Porzellinerfest begins. What exactly is a Selbling? This question inspired and still inspires many museum guests to think. Selblings - as they are affectionately called - are little gnomes made of porcelain and the mascots of Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger. But where do they come from? A myth says that the little gnomes used to hide in the meadows and woods around Selb a long time ago and play many a trick on walkers.
