With Christmas plates, angels, candlesticks, animal figures and much more, they get people in the mood for Christmas. From the 20th century onwards, especially in the 1920s, the advertising of porcelain played a major role. Whether on posters, on television or in shop windows - porcelain was presented from its most beautiful side. Autumn holiday programme: Lanterns Wednesday, 02 November 2022, Porzellanikon Selb On the terrace or on the balcony - lanterns spread a romantic atmosphere at any time of year. The autumn holiday programme offers schoolchildren aged 6 and over the opportunity to make their own individual porcelain lanterns. The programme starts with a workshop at the KREATIV-Fabrik: Here, holiday children can be creative and use various tools to carve any pattern or figure into prefabricated cups made of still-soft porcelain mass. The fifth lecture marks the end of the lecture series on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the museum. On Thursday, 27 October 2022, at 7 p.m., Dr. Arnd Kluge will talk about "Successes without end - The porcelain industry of Upper Franconia until 1914", starting from the invention of European hard porcelain in 1708 until the beginning of the First World War in 1914. After a restrained beginning, characterised by technological start-up difficulties, the expansion of the German porcelain industry began at the end of the 18th century. At the traditional museum festival of the Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger on August 14, 2022, an auction of a wide variety of items from the 1980s took place. This was a reference to the founding date of the museum, now Europe's largest museum for porcelain, which was founded in August 1982. Authentic pieces of clothing from the 1980s, records, VHS recorders and even the oversized and colorful Rubik's cubes that decorated the museum's garden the night before at the "80s Party" went under the hammer and found new owners. This year, Porzellanikon - Staatliches Museum für Porzel-lan, Selb, is once again offering a large playground for all tinkerers, hobbyists and explorers. Eger, access to Porzellanikon - Staatliches Museum für Porzellan, Schirndinger Straße 48 is not possible. For this reason, the museum will be closed on Friday, 9 September and Saturday, 10 September 2022. Who does not know them, the little Selblings and mascots of the Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger. If the stories are to be believed, we know that long ago they were to be found in meadows and forests around Selb. Hidden in the high grass or behind the trees, they played many a trick on walkers. If you discovered a Selbling and dealt with it, the little gnomes transferred their positive qualities to humans. Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger, is turning 40! This anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday, 13 August 2022 with an 80s party. The event will take place in the romantic museum garden, which will be decorated in the style of the 80s. The party starts at 18:00. Anyone who wants to relive memories of shoulder pads, neon colours and 99 balloons is welcome. Visitors can expect a cocktail bar, delicious food and a large collection of hits from the era. For the auction at the museum festival on 14 August 2022, Porzellanikon is looking forward to receiving donated items from the 1980s. Porzellanikon Hohenberg was founded in 1982 and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. From now on, all donations will be accepted during opening hours at Porzellanikon Selb & Hohenberg. On Friday, 1 July 2022 at 6:00 pm, the studio exhibition of ceramist Angelika Krauß opens at Porzellanikon Hohenberg. The opening is open to the public - all interested parties are welcome.In 2021, the porcelain artist from Velden (near Pegnitz) won the jury prize at the first porcelain market in Hohenberg and is now showing selected porcelain pieces from her diverse repertoire in a studio exhibition.
