Family afternoon at the museum
On Sunday, 22 October 2023 at 2:30 pm there will be another family afternoon at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Selb. The activity offers a great opportunity for parents, grandparents and children to spend an exciting and creative time together. Under the motto "Modelling with natural materials", participants young and old will catch the colourful autumn leaves around the museum and create their very own decorative porcelain objects. They will work with soft porcelain clay, moulds and various tools. Those who wish can design a bowl and decorate it with the collected leaves or roll out the porcelain paste and press the leaves into it. The leaf motifs are then cut out and a small hole is made to thread a string through - and the personalised wind chime is ready! The creative programme also includes an experience tour through the permanent exhibition on porcelain production. In the rooms of the former porcelain factory, you can see how porcelain tableware was made - then and now - from the preparation of the paste and the construction of plaster moulds to the production of whiteware and decoration.
