Lecture "The UNESCO World Heritage Sites The Great Spa Towns of Europe - A Look at Bad Kissingen and the Bohemian Spa Triangle" on 12 October 2023 at Porzellanikon Hohenberg a.d. Eger.


As part of the special exhibition "Luxury, Wellness, Porcelain - A Day at a Bohemian Spa" (until 15 October) at Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger, an eventful evening on the subject of spas, health and European spa culture will take place on 12 October 2023.

At 5.30 pm, visitors can join Princess Marie on the guided tour "With Princess Marie on a cure" and experience everyday spa life as it was practised in the renowned spas of Bohemia. In this tour, the princess will also talk about the herbal liqueur "Becherovka" as a medicine, which was considered the 13th healing spring of Karlovy Vary.

An exciting lecture at 18:30 "The UNESCO World Heritage Sites The Great Spa Towns of Europe - A look at Bad Kissingen and the Bohemian spa triangle" invites guests on a captivating journey into the world of European spa culture. It experienced its heyday between 1700 and 1930 and was appreciated by many spa guests. Eleven spa towns in seven different countries now bear the title "The Great Spa Towns of Europe" and have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2021.The speakers Peter Weidisch, Head of the Social Infrastructure Department, Head of the Cultural Department and World Heritage Coordinator, Anna Maria Boll, Site Manager/The Great Spa Towns of Europe, from Bad Kissingen and Lucie Vodenková, Site Manager/The Great Spa Towns of Europe from Karlovy Vary, will talk about the unique value of the entire site. In their presentation, they will talk about four of the most famous spa towns - the German spa town of Bad Kissingen and the three Czech spa towns of Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), Františkovy Lázně (Franzensbad) and Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad). The lecture provides an interesting insight into the unique character of each of these places, their social life, spa traditions and therapeutic treatments.

Headphones with a translator will be available for visitors from the Czech Republic. The evening will end with drinks and snacks. As a gift, each guest will receive a liquid surprise from Becherovka.
