Finissage for the exhibition "UNIKATE erzählen. Artistic Meissen 1970 - 2010

What actually happened at the Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory during the second half of the 20th century? Quite a lot! The young artists from the "Artistic Development" department got things rolling with their designs in Meissen porcelain. They continued the tradition of the manufactory, while at the same time giving it a thoroughly new coat of paint. They included Ludwig Zepner, Heinz Werner, Peter Strang, Rudi Stolle, Volkmar Bretschneider, Jörg Danielczyk, Sabine Wachs, Silvia Klöde, Gudrun Gaube, Andreas Ehret, Olaf Fieber and Andreas Herten. In particular, the unique art that emerged from the 1970s onwards ushered in a new era in the manufactory. Such objects from Meissen have not been seen before: very different, diverse, innovative, experimental and also humorous. The unique pieces have many exciting stories to tell, which are conveyed to visitors to the exhibition emotionally and as an overall experience. The largest collection of unique pieces of this kind that Porzellanikon received from a Hamburg collector couple, the HGM Collection, invites visitors to discover this unknown chapter of manufactory history with around 200 objects on almost 300 square metres.

The exhibition can be experienced for the last time at the finissage on 8 January. During tours with the curators, you can enjoy the exhibition in a cosy atmosphere. Drinks and snacks will be served.
