Selb und Hohenberg a.d. Eger

The Selbling family has grown!

Who does not know them, the little Selblings and mascots of the Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger. If the stories are to be believed, we know that long ago they were to be found in meadows and forests around Selb. Hidden in the high grass or behind the trees, they played many a trick on walkers. If you discovered a Selbling and dealt with it, the little gnomes transferred their positive qualities to humans. In order to make the past tangible, the little gnomes were reproduced in porcelain.

The names of the Selblings are named after important personalities from the porcelain industry. In 2004, the first edition of the Selblings with the names Lorenz and Berta was presented at Porzellanikon Selb. Over the years, other Selblings followed. The new Selbling, which Porzellanikon produces every year for the Porzellinerfest, is now in the starting blocks: his name is Christian Paul and he is number 18 in the Selbling family. The name can be traced back to Christian Paul Aecker, a wealthy investor, entrepreneur and important companion of Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther at the time. He equipped with a top hat, which gives him a distinguished appearance. Christian Paul thus represents an elegant appearance within the Porzellanikon's comprehensive Selbling series.

Christian Paul will be presented to the public for the first time at the Porzellinerfest on Saturday, August 6, 2022 and will be sold at a price of 4.00 euros. From August 7, 2022, it will then be available at both museum locations in Selb and Hohenberg a.d. Eger at the museum box office as well as at the tourist information office of the city of Selb.
