Join-in reading around the campfire: "War of the Buttons".

On 15 July 2022 at 6 pm, a participatory reading will begin at the Porzellanikon in Hohenberg a.d. Eger. Co-organised by the "Junge Luisen-burg", children and young people can actively participate and thus immerse themselves directly in the story. Registration is requested, children up to 18 years of age are free.

Fenja Makosch, theatre pedagogue at the Luisenburg Festival, is turning the classic novel "War of the Buttons" by Louis Pergaud, which was last filmed in 2011, into an interactive reading for children and young people. The story is about two groups of young people from rival neighbouring villages. The friction between the two gangs, which begins with pranks à la "Max and Moritz", ends with the buttons being cut off the clothes of the defeated as a sign of defeat. Nevertheless, children, youths and villagers find their way back together in the end. The atmosphere around the campfire in the museum garden makes the story particularly vivid. The reading actively involves the children and young people present: roles are distributed, the participants can become part of the story and possibly prove their acting skills.

Inspired by the "War of the Buttons", the artist Olaf Fieber created porcelain figures that the participants can see in the current special exhibition "UNIKATE erzählen. Artistic Meissen 1970-2010" after the reading.

Admission for children and young people up to 18 years is free. Adult guests pay the museum entrance fee.

Registration is requested, either by e-mail to besuchercen-ter@porzellanikon.org, or by telephone on +49 9287 918000.

The reading will take place at Porzellanikon Hohenberg, Schirndinger Straße 48, 95691 Hohenberg a.d. Eger.
