Adults pay an additional € 1.00 Sunday admission. Children up to 18 years are always free. For more information, visit www.porzellanikon.org.

This event is held in cooperation with European Route of Ceramics.

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, an explorer afternoon for young and old is on the program under the motto "Full steam ahead".  Starting at 2:30 p.m., there will be a lot of hissing and noise behind the old factory walls of Porzellanikon as people experiment with steam power. What is behind the hissing steam, the pounding pistons and the turning wheels? This afternoon, young and old researchers will be able to answer these and other interesting questions for themselves. To illustrate the interrelationships, the museum

team will start up the well-maintained factory steam engine and demonstrate how heat and water were turned into movement that could supply an entire factory with energy. Models are used to examine the path steam takes from the boiler to the chimney. Afterwards, visitors can work in small groups to assemble a steam engine and put it into operation.

The research afternoon lasts approx. 2.5 hours and is suitable for children aged 8 and over. The cost of materials is 3 euros; adults pay an additional 1 euro Sunday admission. Children up to 18 years are always free. For more information, visit www.porzellanikon.org.
