Taking a baby to the museum - "Kangaroo tour" at Porzellanikon

On Tuesday, 13 June 2023, there will be a very special guided tour of the current special exhibition "Klo & Co. Sanitärkeramik vom Plumpsklo bis zur Hightech-Toilette" at Porzellanikon Selb.

At 11:00 am, interested parents with their babies and toddlers can take part in a "kangaroo tour" and explore the exhibition with curator Dr. des. Joana Mylek to explore the exhibition. The short "kangaroo tour" is ideal for babies in slings. Sufficient breaks for feeding, diapering and joining in the discussion are planned into the tour. The curator of the special exhibition on the cultural history of the toilet, Dr. des. Joana Mylek came up with the idea of a kangaroo tour when she realised from her own experience how exhausting museum and exhibition visits with a small child can be: "Museums are unfortunately not prepared for this. I wanted to change that, because as a museum curator I love visiting museums and exhibitions. And I want to give parents the opportunity to enjoy their museum visit in a relaxed way," says the curator.

Parents can visit the special exhibition without stress and meet other parents with children of the same age. There are many things to discover in the exhibition for their own everyday life. Historical and modern potties show which suggestions are used to encourage children to go to the toilet nowadays, and various reusable nappy systems are on display.

A visit to the café and restaurant "Altes Brennhaus" provides an opportunity for further exchange.

Price: Museum admission plus € 3.50 for the guided tour; registration at besuchercenter(at)porzellanikon.org or +49 9287 918000.
