Matinée with the artist Silvia Klöde
The graduate sculptor Silvia Klöde learned the trade of a bossier at the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen before studying at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden. She then returned to the manufactory and became part of the artistic development department. As the first woman in the group, she successfully asserted herself against her male colleagues and from then on worked with them on an equal footing.
At first, her focus was on the production of medals, but later she also increasingly designed figurative pieces. The female figure in particular plays a major role in her work. They appear again and again in a wide variety of designs. Her porcelain designs are captivating because of their meticulous elaboration. If you look closely, you will always discover new details.
After leaving the artistic development department, Silvia Klöde set up her own studio and has continued to create porcelain designs ever since.
