Matinée with porcelain artists Andreas Ehret and Olaf Fieber at Porzellanikon Hohenberg a.d. Eger

On Sunday, 16 October 2022, Porzellanikon - Staatliches Museum für Porzellan, Hohenberg a.d. Eger will host a matinée with porcelain artists Andreas Ehret and Olaf Fieber from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Their extraordinary objects enrich the current special exhibition "UNIKATE erzählen. Artistic Meissen 1970 - 2010".

Andreas Ehret initially trained as a porcelain turner at the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen. Due to his talent, he became a master student of the sculptor Peter Strang in the manufactory's own artistic development department. There he also created his first porcelain designs on his own initiative. Later, he studied at the College of Applied Arts in Heiligendamm and worked as a designer for the "Artistic Development" department for many years after graduating. Today, Andreas Ehret designs porcelain in his own studio in the centre of Meissen. Ehret's porcelain designs captivate with their technical sophistication. He experiments both with the construction of the moulds and with the décor and thus always gives his porcelain creations, which often seem minimalist at first glance, that certain something extra. For example, he sometimes drips coloured ceramic mass into bowls or combines porcelain with iron, which leaves behind a very special décor.

After his training at the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, the embosser Olaf Fieber joined the "Artistic Development" department as a master student, as his talent was recognised. There he used free time to design his first own porcelain creations. He also graduated from the College of Applied Arts in Heiligendamm and subsequently designed for the Artistic Development Department. Olaf Fieber recently opened his second studio in Meissen. Olaf Fieber's porcelains inspire with their deeper meaning. In his designs, for example, he deals with human traits or historical events. In doing so, he manages to transform even serious themes into visually mostly very cheerful designs, thus creating a certain tension. In addition to porcelain, he also works in the fields of photography, painting and graphics.

Interested visitors can look forward to an entertaining guided tour with the two porcelain artists and the curators Petra Werner and Maren Pilger and discover the exhibition together with them. During and after the tour, Andreas Ehret and Olaf Fieber will answer questions about their artworks and their work over champagne and canapés.

The price of the matinée is €15.00 and includes a guided tour, sparkling wine and canapés. Please register by 13.10.2022 at besuchercenter@porzellanikon.org. or phone +49 9287-918000.
