Curator's tour of the special exhibition "More than Bricks! Tradition and Future of Architectural Ceramics".

Seeing the architecture in the neighbourhood with completely different eyes - that is the promise of the curator of the special exhibition "More than Bricks!" Thomas Miltschus. On Sunday, 11 September 2022, at 2:30 pm, the art historian will take visitors on an entertaining "city stroll" past shops, churches, castles and huge factory buildings and show how magnificent and fascinating ceramics can be in architecture. Although it is omnipresent, it is often overlooked in everyday life. The show at Porzellanikon - Staatliches Museum für Porzellan, Selb is therefore designed like a tour of a city and presents ceramics on the outer facades of buildings and also in the buildings themselves on two times 300 square metres. A total of 80 exhibits from Germany and Europe can be seen in the creatively designed special exhibition. A highlight of the exhibition is a virtual walk through the entrance gate of the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. Interested visitors should also not miss the mocha bar with an impressive mural made of Meissen porcelain tiles, which was rescued from the Palace of the Republic in Berlin and can be seen for the first time in an exhibition.

The exhibition is also suitable for school-age children. While parents take part in the guided tour, they can try their hand as master builders at the numerous hands-on stations.

The price is 1.00 Sunday admission plus 3.50 euros for the guided tour. Admission for children up to 18 years is free. Further information on the exhibition at www.porzellanikon.org.
