Place of the event

A Bohemian spa in the 19th century Main characters: Bohemian porcelain and a singing stagecoach driver
Extras: Emperors, kings, politicians, scholars and artists - in short: the crème de la crème of European high society What's it about? Gossip, amour, a little wellness and health, 5-course menus, leisure, sightseeing and lots of Bohemian porcelain.

The Story

A journey back in time to the 19th century: High society from all over Europe is busy at a Bohemian spa, and in the middle of it all is wonderful, Bohemian porcelain, which is pretty much what it's all about here. As an exhibition guest, mingle with the select company at Porzellanikon Hohenberg a.d. Eger from 1 April 2023.

Luxury, luxury and more luxury

What you may not have known: Bohemian porcelain was a true luxury product in the 19th century. It was known for its fine paintings and unusual shapes and was therefore much sought after by high society.

A day with a Bohemian original and entertainer

Meet someone who knew all the VIPs who were guests here: Wenzel Wolfert, a coachman and ... entertainer! Climb aboard his carriage and let him accompany you through the daily spa routine. He will drive you to all the hip "hotspots" in the Bohemian spa. From a spring of healing water in the morning to an elegant salon where VIPs enjoy themselves in the evening. Wenzel Wolfert chats out of the sewing box, tells you how best to spend the afternoon and which salon is absolutely "in" at the moment.

... and the porcelain?

That's exactly what the special exhibition is about - beautiful, expensive and luxurious Bohemian porcelain that was loved by high society from all over Europe. Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as "Sisi", for example, tells us what made porcelain from Bohemia so special to her. With the help of many wonderful pieces from Czech and German collections, we will show you the diversity and unique quality of Bohemian porcelain.

And now ... you!

You, too, are in demand at the exhibition. There is a lot to participate in, try out and discover. This special exhibition is a unique experience for everyone: you have never seen Czech porcelain like this before!

And why all this?

This special exhibition is our contribution to the Bavarian-Czech Friendship Weeks, Selb Aš 2023. The special exhibition is a joint project with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague (Uměleckoprůmyslové museum v Praze) and the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Západočeské muzeum v Plzni).
