Curator's tour of the special exhibition "UNIKATE erzählen. Artistic Meissen 1970 - 2010"

What actually happened at the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen during the second half of the 20th century? Quite a lot! The "Artistic Development" department, made up of young artists, got things rolling with its designs in Meissen porcelain. They continued the tradition of the manufactory, while at the same time giving it a new coat of paint. In particular, the unique art that emerged from the 1970s onwards ushered in a new era at the manufactory. Until 2010, the department produced a large number of unique pieces that could not be more different. The largest collection of unique pieces of this kind, which Porzellanikon received from a Hamburg collector couple, invites visitors to discover this unknown chapter of the manufactory's history with over 200 objects on almost 300 square metres. The unique pieces have many exciting stories to tell, some of which you have certainly never heard before.
