ART MEETS TECHNOLOGY. Ceramics from the 3D Printer - Curator's Tour with Chief Curator Wolfgang Schilling
3D printing objects yourself - what still sounds like a dream of the future opens up unimagined possibilities for artists and designers today. Exploring these was the aim of a competition held by the "Keramion" museum in Frechen. The ten selected winners are now also making a stop at Porzellanikon in Selb. The objects present themselves in a highly filigree way that no ceramist can achieve with traditional technology, creatively, experimentally and diversely, and show what 3D printing can do. The spectrum ranges from architectural designs to pieces of jewellery to absolute highlights for furnishing one's own home. But the answer to the question of HOW also leaves nothing to be desired: Films as well as objects illustrate manufacturing techniques. And as an additional highlight, the new in-house 3D printer will be printing live in the exhibition.
