The museums
Are you fascinated by porcelain?
Or maybe you're curious to find out more about Bavaria's first industrial museum? Is high-tech your passion? Or perhaps you're a fan of German tableware and home décor? - Whatever your interest, you've come to the right place here!
The main strength of Porzellanikon is its diversity,
making it unique in the whole of Europe. And, covering 11,000 m2, we are the largest museum dedicated to porcelain on the continent. You'll not only find items produced in craft enterprises and manufactured in German-speaking countries since porcelain was successfully invented in Europe 300 years ago; our museums will also show you how this work was carried out, with a depiction of the conditions under which people worked at the time. The area covered by technical ceramics is also featured here. And then there is the Rosenthal Museum.
All this at the heart of what is today still the most important region for porcelain in Europe, Upper Franconia, housed in buildings steeped in tradition and synonymous with the aristocracy of German chinaware.
